CMS Series: Blogger

This post was actually supposed to come after my article on Typepad and then I got my publishing and scheduling mixed up, so the WordPress article came next.  Then I decided not to even bother with an article about Blogger.  But after today, I figured I’d share my experience of setting up a Web site in Blogger.  I spent quite a few hours today (Saturday) setting it up.  I had forgotten about the little things that make Blogger “interesting” to work with. CMS Series: Joomla

joomla_logoJoomla is an open source content management system for publishing Web content. Open source programs are those in which the source code is available to the general public to use and modify free of charge with no licensing restrictions.

Joomla was born in 2006 and is a derivative of Mambo, another open source CMS. It has a large and active community who contributes to its development through support and the creation of extensions that add functionality to the software.

Joomla’s ease-of-use and extensibility have made it a very popular CMS around the world.

CMS Series: What’s a CMS and Why Do I Need One?

A content management system (CMS) sounds good, but you’re not sure you need one. You might even think “this system” sounds complicated and maybe too much for want you want out of a site. Possibly. But more likely not.

WordPress 2.7 Released

WordPress 2.7 is now available for download.  This is a major ramp up from version 2.6.  Most notably, the admin area got a much-needed facelift.  I think this area is  easier to navigate and managing your content is more intuitive and streamlined. Read the rest of this entry »
