Hello, I’m Carolyn Wheeler and the proprietress of The Web Chic.
People always ask how I started designing Web sites. A little over 10 years ago, I decided I wanted to learn about the great World Wide Web and taught myself how to build Web pages. I was already doing print design so it wasn’t too much of a stretch. After I built my own site, I got requests from others to build theirs.
Recently, I’ve concentrated on converting existing sites or designing new sites in content management systems, focusing mostly on Wordpress. (This Web site runs on Wordpress and so are many of the sites I feature in my portfolio.
My expertise is setting up small businesses with a Web presence and giving owners the training to maintain it. I know how frustrating it can be to wait on your webmaster or designer to update a Web page. That’s why I now build sites in simple- to-use content management systems that allow you to update your site as needed. Change your content, add photos, videos, a podcast–whatever you want. Thankfully, technology enables today’s Web sites to be more dynamic and interactive. It’s makes for a better experience for your visitors and potential customers.
